    Ernie,
As Idaho Vice Chair I will be leading the Idaho delegation to our Libertarian convention in St. Louis. In an attempt to education ourselves as best we can prior to our convention, we are familarizing ourselves with the issues and candidates.

There is a good deal of info available about your history and positions but nowhere could I find your positions on important civil right issues such as the Patriot Act, Defense of Marriage legilation or a women’s right to choose what does or does not happen to her body.

Please send me an email with your positions on these important issues.

    Pat

  • Ernie,

“Love not ‘W.A.R.’”–ingenious contrast to Wayne’s effort. At the Atlanta convention, you explained the “contract insurance” idea to finance government about as well as anyone I have discussed it with, so maybe you can use this idea to finance our party:

As we federal candidates become more successful, the old political parties will scrutinize our activities more and more. Since there is strength in numbers and the Libertarian National Committee (LNC) already receives wise counsel to handle this scrutiny, the following would be a mutually beneficial arrangement: If we candidates pay a percentage of our campaign income (10%?) to the LNC we would appreciate the full weight of the LNC behind us as we try to legally run for office.

What follows are the forms for this program:

    1. LNC sends to candidate to fill out and return:

LIBERTARIAN PARTY OF THE UNITED STATES
    Campaign Services: Federal Offices

    Name of candidate:
    Campaigning for which federal office:
Your Address for Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings:
    Phone:
    Email:
    Website:
    Other information:

Please send all donations to the LNC and ask your donors to make checks payable to the LNC with your name as a memo. Thanks,

    2. LNC sends to candidate with bank checks:

    Confirm candidate information.

We will send you a copy of your FEC filings and bank statements. Any fines associated with any errors on our part, e.g., late filings, will be paid by us. We will charge your account ten percent of each month’s deposits. If asked, Libertarians will be given information on how you are spending their donations. Please send suggestions on how we can improve this service. Thanks for your efforts to defend our freedom,

I would gladly run this program, or help anyone that the Committee designates to run it. Concerning the legality of this program: If push comes to shove, (and with trillions of tax dollars at stake, push will come to shove) our Supreme Court has consistently sided with the upstarts–which are us. With a little courage, our party can attract the best people in our nation to be our representatives if we provide the necessary environment for them to do their jobs. Thanks for your efforts to defend my freedom,
